Start a new relationship. View/Hide

Starting a new relationship is as simple as starting a conversation with these four steps.

1 Understand his purpose.

He loves you and wants you to know him so he can fill you with peace and give you real life — forever. Since he planned for us to have peace and real life right now, why are so many people hurting or angry inside?

2 Recognize our problem.

He created us in his own image so we can know him personally and have a joy-filled life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey him, but gave us a will and freedom of choice. Since the beginning of time, we have chosen to not follow him and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from him and ends in misery.

3 Believe in his remedy.

Jesus Christ is the only answer to this problem. He died on the cross and rose from the grave, paying the penalty for our sin and bridging the gap between him and us.

He has provided the only way – we must make the choice.

4 Give ourselves to him.

We must trust Jesus Christ to forgive our sins and decide to follow him for the rest of our lives. That way we can know him and find peace again. Is there any good reason why you cannot turn your life over to Jesus Christ right now?

How to give your life to him:
  1. Admit you are a sinner and need forgiveness.
  2. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.
  3. Through prayer, confess that Jesus Christ is the only way to God and commit to live for him for the rest of your life.

Trusting in Jesus’ sacrifice for you is the only way to find forgiveness and begin a relationship with him. We urge you to take this step of faith today. To do that, simply talk to him – this is called praying – and tell him you believe in him. We suggest a prayer like this:

“Dear Jesus,
I know I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. Guide my life and help me to do your will.

In your name, amen.”

Yes, I prayed the prayer. No, but I have a question.

Grow your relationship with him. View/Hide

The keys to growing your relationship with him lie in three simple actions.

1 Read the Bible.

Learn more about him. The Bible is his instruction manual for real living. The easiest way to truly grow in your faith is by making Bible reading a priority because the Bible is complete and completely true.

2 Gather together with other believers.

The reason we attend church or gather with other believers regularly is for teaching, fellowship, worship, communion, prayer, and to build one another up in the faith. Participating in a Christian community is important to spiritual growth.

Most churches offer small groups and other ministry opportunities. Pray and ask him where you should “plug in.” Those who become truly plugged in find their purpose and soar in their walk with Christ. Sometimes this takes a little time, but most churches offer classes or counseling to help you find the place that’s right for you. Don’t get discouraged if the first thing you try doesn’t seem to quite fit.

3 Talk to him.

You don’t have to use big, fancy words and there are no right or wrong words. Just be your- self. Give thanks to him daily. Pray for others in need. Pray for direction. Pray for him to fill you with joy daily. There is no limit to prayer. You can pray with your eyes closed or with your eyes wide open, while sitting, standing, kneeling, or lying in your bed – anywhere, any- time. There’s no better time than right now to make prayer a part of your daily routine.

Talk it up.
